"May God bless you and keep you always, may your wishes all come true, may you always do for others, and let others do for you. May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung. May you stay forever young.
May you grow up to be righteous, may you grow up to be true, may you always know the truth, and see the lights surrounding you. May you always be courageous, stand upright and be strong, may you stay forever young.
May your hands always be busy, may your feet always be swift, may you have a strong foundation when the winds of changes shift. May your heart always be joyful and may your song always be sung. May you stay forever young." -Bob Dylan

"Not talking about a year, no not three or four. I don't want that kind of forever in my life anymore. Forever always seems to be around when it begins, but forever never seems to be around when it end. So give me your forever, please your forever. Not a day less will do from you.
People spend so much time every single day runnin' 'round all over town givin' their forever away. But no not me, I won't let my forever roam and now I hope I can find my forever a home. So give me your forever, please your forever. Not a day less will do from you.
Like a handless clock with numbers, an infinite of time. No not the forever found only in the mind. Forever always seems to be around when things begin, but forever never seems to be around when things end. So give me your forever, please your forever. Not a day less will do from you." - Ben Harper

Come oooooon Elsa!

Shane and I are pretty anxious these days. You can't tell from the outside, but Shane's insides are going crazy, and I'm not sleeping at all. My pelvic bone feels like it's going to shatter into a thousand pieces. Elsa, I know the house may not look like it's ready for you, but I promise it is. PLEASE COME OUT!

Last weekend my sister threw another baby shower, which was, of course, a huge blessing. I was able to see friends from Wilmington, friends from high school, and some family. We got some great things and are officially all set for Elsa to be here.

Some of the Apex High school girls

Some cousins, sisters, and my mom. Becca is due with a baby girl soon after me. It was fun to have her and Will in town. I heard him say "Mommy" and point to Becca's belly and say "baby." It was so sweet. He's a happy guy.

Wilmington girls. Thank you so much to those that had to drive to come. It meant a lot that y'all came and it was great to see everyone!

Lauren and Garin came in town this past weekend. Unfortunately Shane had to work most of the day on Sunday, but we were able to go to church and lunch together. While Shane was at work, Garin went for a run and Lauren and I went for a walk around the lake. Then we went and sat by the pool for a little bit. Garin actually got in. I'm not sure how, the water was so cold!

When Shane got home, we ate dinner and played a nice civil game of Monopoly.

They left the next morning for Charlotte. Thanks so much for coming. It was nice to have that time with you guys!

This past Tuesday I had a doctors appointment. Every week they measure me and my belly should measure in centimeters how far along I am in weeks. Well, I am 39 weeks and I measured 34 (at 38 weeks, I measured 38). The doctor said that Elsa has indeed dropped and that's why the measurement was lower. Her heart beat is still strong, and he's predicting a 7 lb baby. My appetite has also dramatically increased the past couple days. I'm back to over eating Shane...whoops. So here is what I need y'all to do, if you are not already doing so...tell Elsa to come out! I've been walking or going to the gym daily to try and work her out, and it's not working. So pray pray pray! We want to meet the little one!

Hopefully my next blog will be all about meeting our little girl. Until then, I'm off to the gym. :)

Impatiently counting down...

The closer it gets to "the day," the harder it gets to wait. It's so close it's annoying!

This past weekend we had a shower that my sister and mom hosted at my mom's house. It definitely finished off our list of things we thought we needed. We are overwhelmed, once again, by the generosity of friends and family. I cannot express how thankful we are for all that people have given us. God has taken care of us this past year, and He has used many of you all to do so. It is absolutely amazing to see. Looking at our circumstances alone COULD give us a reason to worry and panic, but God hasn't given us a day to have a reason to worry because He has provided again and again. I wish I could list all of the ways He has shown us His love, mercy, and grace, but there are too many to name. Things happen DAILY. I have such a peace about not working full-time, Elsa arriving, Shane possibly going back to school, etc. I was on the phone with a friend earlier today and she was asking about how I'm feeling about Elsa arriving and she said, "you sound so calm about everything!" Well, I am. I have no reason not to be, and praise be to God for that.

Today we had out 37/38 week appointment. Elsa is still in the same position as 3 weeks ago (head down, back against my left side, butt up near my ribs, and arms and legs on my right side). Her heart beat is still strong, and I'm measuring right on. He said he's expecting her to be 7 to 7 1/2 pounds and then started rattling off what we should do when I start feeling contractions and when to head to the hospital. It could happen any day now. Eake!

I took a few pictures of Elsa's room/the guest room. It isn't decorated and there are diapers stacked in the corner, BUT it shows off the crib, quilt, mobile, and changing table/dresser. I don't know how to decorate, so Mrs. K is slaving away in Charlotte trying to help me out. Thank you momma K!

Thank you again to all of y'all that have loved us, and our baby girl, through your prayers, gifts, and time. We are so grateful!

36 weeks and 4 days...almost there!

Shane and I just got back from our 36/37 week appointment. Everything is looking great. Elsa's heart beat is strong, I'm measuring right on, my blood pressure hasn't increased at all. We talked to the doctor about what to do when I go into labor, which made it feel more real. The doctor felt around again to confirm that Elsa was head down. Right now her back is along my left side, her butt is up close to my ribs, and her hands and feet are on my right side, which makes sense considering something always seems to be poking out over there. Here is a picture of the belly. Hopefully this is the month that Elsa will enter the world!

Yesterday I washed all of Elsa's newborn-3 month clothes, blankets, hats, sheets, and bibs. Very fun!

Who is Elsa going to look like?

Since Shane and I have opposite features (brown hair, blonde hair; brown eyes, blue eyes, olive skin, pale skin), we thought it would be fun for everyone to put in their guesses of what feasures baby Elsa is going to have. If you click on "comment" below this post, you can write your guess in the text box and then click "Post comment."

Birth weight?
Hair color?
Eye color?
Whatever else you can think of...

I think all eyes start out blue(?), but we will know the winner whenever they change for good I guess. Hopefully I can remember to send the winner a prize when the time comes.

Have fun!

April

Happy Spring! It has been an exciting month for us. Elsa continues to grow strong and healthy, we are still loving our apartment, Easter is coming, we celebrated our one year anniversary, and we have been given 2 baby showers. What a month!

I'll have to wait until later to post pictures of Elsa's room, but in the mean time I can at least tell you about it. My mom gave us a bed to put in there for guests, which we were able to use a couple weeks ago when the K's came to visit. It was fun to host them. We have also set up Elsa's crib and changing table since then as well. The room is full of baby stuff. She's kind of taking over our apartment, so it is pretty impossible to forget that she's coming. She is 5 short weeks away! I would say I cannot believe it, but I can. These weeks have been crawling by. And I don't have a belly button anymore.

April 3rd, my mom's friends threw us our first shower. It was a huge blessing and we got a lot of very nice things. The food was great, and the cake was the best cake I've ever had. We still have some in our freezer that I pull out ever few days to eat off of...YUM. Here are a few pictures from the party.

These are the hostesses! Thank you so much Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Winslow, Mrs. Slice, and Mrs. Howe!

And the Kirkpatrick and Puffer girls. Thank you for making the trip Mrs. K!

Shane surprised me on our anniversary. We both got off the 10th and 11th (Sunday and Monday) and were wanting to go down to Wilmington or Myrtle Beach, but had decided to stay in the area and just relax at home. I calculated a week or so ago that we have had 10 days off together since January 1st, so we were very excited about having 2 days off in a row together. I didn't really care what we did, as long as we were together. Well, he ended up booking us a night at the Umstead Hotel, which is a beautiful 5-star hotel in Cary that my brother, David, works at. He is able to get very nice family discounts, so we took advantage of that. David bought us a night over there after we got back from our honeymoon cruise, and it was an unforgettable experience, so Shane wanted to repeat it. He also bought a little video camera so that we can record all of Elsa's tricks. It was a perfect combination of gifts. Thank you Shane! We've been taking some fun videos since then, but I'm not sure how to post them on here yet...I'll try to figure it out.

This past weekend, Mrs. K's friends threw us a shower in Charlotte. My mom and dad followed us down there. They drove separately so that they could bring back the changing table that the K's refinished for us. We love it, thank y'all for all the work you put into it. It looks great in the room, and the drawers are already full!

The shower was, once again, a huge blessing. We got a little bit of everything and I am overwhelmed. God has proven to us time and time again that He will provide above and beyond our needs, and our little girl's. And let me just say, between this shower and the last, Elsa is going to be the best dressed little girl in town. This kid has nicer clothes than Shane and I do, not that that says too much...

Here is a quilt that Mrs. Sonia made for Elsa. It's beautiful! The colors are bright and fun! Shane and I actually bought blue curtains the other week for our room, but they match perfectly with the quilt so we switched the blue ones to Elsa's room and put the red one's in ours. It really brightens up her room!

Mrs. Sonia made the quilt, and her daughter, Cori, is on the right. Thank you so much! We love it!

And here are the hostesses of the shower. Cori, Mrs. Sonia, and Mrs. Brenda. Y'all really made it special. Thank you for all that you did!

And while we were at the shower, the guys went to Victory Lane to ride really fast go-carts and then came home and shot guns. How manly. Here are the grandpa's bonding. Good thing they like each other.

Sunday afternoon Shane's friend, John, came over. I was tired, so I took a 3 hour nap while they went out to the gazebo to fish. Shane caught a nice sized Bass. They captured it on video, but the video doesn't seem to want to load fast enough, so I gave up. I need to go to bed soon.

As for the baby update, I had an appointment the day after the April 3rd shower which made me dislike one particular doctor (just kidding, she's very nice). I found out I had gained a lot more weight than recommended for the 2 weeks prior and my doctor gave me a hard time about it. She made me get onto another scale in the office because, "surely I didn't gain THAT much in 2 weeks. The scale must be off..." Well, I DID! I guess Elsa decided to pick up the speed of her growth. :)

Yesterday I had my 34 week appointment and met the last doctor in the practice (there are 6 doctors in the practice, 4 women and 2 men, and any of them could be delivering Elsa, so the office wants you to meet all of them.) This was the second man, and he was great. Pretty much every appointment is the same. They take my weight, I give a urine sample, they take my blood pressure, and they measure my stomach. My stomach should measure in centimeters what I am in weeks from my pelvic bone to the top of my uterus. I read last week online somewhere that the doctor should be able to feel what position the baby is in, so I asked him to see if he could tell. He said she was in head down position. All the movement I should feel from here on out is her stretching, kicking, kneeing, elbowing, and punching. She can't really turn anymore because there isn't enough room, and she's all set for delivery. I was excited to hear that. Everything looked great and he said we should be having a health 7 1/2 pound baby girl in 5 short weeks. She is a little over 5 pounds right now (about the size of a honeydew melon according to the website I read most often). I feel her move all the time and I love it! We can't wait to meet her.

Alright, sorry for the long post. I had a lot to catch up on, and I couldn't fall asleep, so I wrote. It's now after midnight. Eake! I'll post some pictures of the room in the next few days.

Oh, life

Shane and I have been in a daze for 3 or so weeks. We just sit on the couch and stare at the walls at night, and we sleep like rocks at night. Emotionally exhausted I think.

2 weeks ago we sold the Jeep, which was a tiresome process. BUT it's done with. We then had 2 weeks to find a replacement before my dad got back in town and needed his car back. He returns tomorrow, and praise God, we found a car and bought it on Tuesday morning, so we don't have to worry about sharing a car between him, Shane and I. God's timing is perfect and He never fails us...He shows that to us every day.

I'm 32/33 weeks along and feeling pretty good. I had a bad cold last week that was annoying, but it's over now and my energy and appetite are back. I'm still trying to stay active to keep my energy level up. I stopped running last week, partly due to feeling like I have a cement block in my stomach and partly due to the fact that my running shoes are completely shot. According to the websites, Elsa is now between 4 and 5 pounds. That is so crazy to me. From here on out, she is fully developed and just fattening up. We've been seeing and feeling her move a lot. I have to say that is probably the most enjoyable aspect of pregnancy. This weekend my mom's friends are throwing a shower for us, so that should be fun. I'll hopefully have some pictures to post next time. The K's are coming in town and staying in our house. We're excited to host our first house guests. Well, actually Tim stayed with us a couple weeks ago, but we didn't have a guest bed yet, so he wasn't as comfortable as the K's will be...sorry Tim.

That's it for now! Thanks for keeping up with us.

30 Weeks

Wow, it's been a crazy week. Monday we found out that Matt and Becca are expecting a GIRL. Very exciting, congratulations. Elsa is excited about her cousin and Will is excited about being a big brother. Tuesday my friend Nikki gave birth to her son, Jude. It was 3 hours from the time she went into labor to the time Jude was out. Sounds pretty good to me, so I've been selfishly praying for a quick labor and delivery. My friend Brittany, on the other hand, gave birth to her little girl tonight around 7:30. She went into labor before Nikki...wow. Brittany and I will be having mommy dates, which will be fun! I'm excited to spend more time with her. Her sister, Ashley, was one of my bridesmaids and sang at our wedding. She has the most beautiful voice, and heart. Love her.

I had my 28/29 week appointment on March 7th. All good news. I had my glucose tolerance test, and all came out great. No glucose problems for Elsa and me. My blood pressure was great and Elsa's heart beat was strong. I was told to start counting her movements for an hour each day to make sure she moves at least 10 times. So far I haven't had to count the whole hour because I feel her 15-20 times in the first 15 minutes. She's an active little one. It was a very encouraging appointment. I go back this Monday, the 21st.

Tonight Shane and I had a photo shoot of our bellies, so I hope you enjoy! Happy 30 weeks to us!
